Good morning. My name is Angelica Tucker, founder of The Lavender Initiative.
Our organization focuses on supporting the people who spend their lives serving others, including healthcare workers, veterans, first responders, and caregivers.
I was especially interested in today’s discussion about Virginia’s healthcare workforce shortage.
We are investing in recruiting and training more people into healthcare, but I believe we also have to ask: How do we keep the people we already have?
Is Virginia looking at worker well-being as part of its healthcare workforce retention strategy, including burnout, grief, chronic stress, and repeated exposure to trauma?
And are we measuring why healthcare workers are leaving—and considering nonprofit and community partners as part of the solution?
The Lavender Initiative would welcome the opportunity to be part of that conversation.
Thank you.
