This bill is a modest proposal responding to a desire by the citizens of the Commonwealth for transparency when it comes to the use of animals in a research facility. The reporting to VDACs of all animals being used for research is a simple task as it is already being compiled by the research facilities. The Virginia legislature in general and this committee in particular, showed leadership when it addressed the activities at Envigo. Let's not allow a situation where we do not hold our pubic universities even minimally accountable but then something terrible happens. What will citizens say then? Please support this bill and its conforming into Delegate Webert's HB2348.
