As a School Board member for Prince William County Public schools, I support student phones being put away for the entire school day. Prior to this issue becoming a national centerpiece, I had two middle schools in my district that were already requiring students to keep cell phones put away for the entire school day. When other schools decided to try it, they reported lower issues of bullying and incidents of inappropriate usage of cell phones at least within the school day. These were data points that we used as a School Board to pass our policy that does not allow student students to use their phone during school hours..
