Everyone I speak to in Fairfax says our property taxes are too high. Casino revenues should provide increasing offset for property tax cuts. VOTE YES FOR CASINOS IN FAIRFAX, SPECIFICALLY TYSONS AND METRO ACCESSIBLE!

Opposed to any casinos in Virginia. More traffic, more crime, less safety. Fairfax County has clearly stated no desire, yet the state keeps pushing this on us. No.

Approve hiring preference for former feds, support solar initiatives, but firmly against Casinos in NOVA. We must prioritize the long-term well-being of our community over short-term financial gains. Instead of investing in casinos, let’s focus on sustainable development that fosters health, safety, and prosperity for all residents.

Extremely disappointed that this bill has gotten as far as it has. Some officials elected to represent the constituents of our state, especially those representing our region, are not listening to their constituents and instead are being swayed by people who have no regard for those of us who live in Fairfax county and made poor choices in real estate purchases because they were motivated by greed. Those of us who live here did not ask for a casino! A casino is not the answer to cure the economic woes in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A casino has no place in our county where families have chosen to live and raise their children. Families do not live in this county because of the availability of gambling opportunities, but because of the quality of its schools and communities. No one will benefit from the addition of a casino to this area. The proximity of a proposed casino in Tysons Corner is too close geographically to several local schools and community centers. With casinos comes the real possibility of human trafficking. Do not tell me that is not true. If it wasn’t true, why are there signs posted on the doors of bathroom stalls in the nearby MGM National Harbor with information warning about human trafficking. Don’t believe me? Take a field trip and see it for yourself. It should not take an incident of child trafficking for people to realize that the presence of a casino brought an extremely real additional element of risk to our children. There are many companies who work closely with the federal government based in the Tysons Corner area. Many of their employees have security clearances that might be jeopardized with the presence of a casino nearby. Don’t say - Well those employees should self regulate and not go to the casino, but the casino owners are betting that they will get customers from those workers. There is a real possibility that these businesses would relocate rather than jeopardize their businesses. This would be a tragedy because the region would lose not only the business, but also their productive employees who live here and contribute to our local communities. A casino will not benefit the public education system in the Commonwealth or the local community. Case in point, Nevada does not have the highest rank in public education in the United States even though it has the most number of casinos within its borders. It is ranked 44th in the nation. Virginia is ranked 9th. Realistically, no one visits Virginia because it is a gambling destination. True gamblers will go to Vegas or Atlantic City. Realistically, there are no positives in putting a casino in our area, unless you consider upticks in alcohol-related deaths or human trafficking positive benefits of a casino. Courtesy of a military assignment, we lived in Las Vegas for 5 years. It was incredibly sad to see the lives ruined because of availability of gambling and the life choices made because of gambling. Addiction is a disease and gambling is an addiction. Please vote responsibly and on behalf of those you represent.

A casino in Vienna is an outrageous and immoral tactic suggested by people who dont live here. The area is low crime but high traffic because of the still expanding Tyson’s Corner shopping mall. In addition, Vienna residents have very stable government jobs and have not shown any interest in a gambling venture that could increase personal debt, dangerous crime, and traffic fatalities. Vienna residents have already indicated they don’t want this casino so I don’t understand why people in Richmond are still pushing to make it happen. The state of Maryland already has a gambling venture that can be accessed from Vienna in less than 60 minutes for anyone who wants to gamble. So in effect you are proposing a risky venture that already has competition. My own professional work has included helping people whose lives have been affected by addiction and gambling is one of those issues. Please do not do this. It is not healthy or cost effective and could bring crime and other unhealthy behavior to our beautiful Town of Vienna.
