I am very much in favor of SB412. I have always advocated for micro chipping of dogs and cats. This provides an easy identification of the owner and enhances the ability to return lost animals to their owner. I believe that a low cost opportunity to get a microchip implanted would greatly increase the use. Being able to quickly identify owners and return pets would free up much needed space in shelters and possibly reduce need of building expensive larger facilities. I would also like to suggest the importance of veterinarians being able to give other vaccines at rabies clinics. We recently had a rabies clinic and were offered free distemper and parvo vaccines that could have been given free to pets that needed the vaccines. Many of these are owned by people who may not be able to afford routine vet care. I believe we could have greatly improved the health of pets in our jurisdiction if we could have allowed this free service. Thank you for your consideration.
